Beyond Mindfulness

Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness?
It is simply to be aware of what one is doing.
And to be fully committed to the moment of doing.

It can be eating, drinking, walking, running, etc.
Putting the mind solely into the now process.
Mindful eating means awareness on picking up the food into the mouth,
chewing the food and swallowing the food into the stomach.
Living the moment is essential, no thoughts of the past or the future except the present.

Four Noble Truths

Quote from Phra Ajaan Dune Atulo

1. The mind sent outside
—————————-> is the origination of suffering.

2. The result of the mind sent outside
—————————————–> is suffering.

3. The mind seeing the mind
——————————–> is the PATH.

3. The result of the mind seeing the mind
———————————————-> is the cessation of suffering.

We see a colored form, we tend to “acknowledged” the form.
The form is red, green or blue.
And at times we add on “I like Red” or “I dislike Blue.
This is what is wrong about our view. We should not give an attachment to it (Like or dislike).
It should be view simply as a form (Red, Green or Blue and nothing more). No feeling to the form. (Like or dislike).

We must strive to be in the “middle” zone. (No Like or Dislike)
Under the true origin of forms, all different forms are the same form.

We have to watch our mind and keep it focus on the trueness.
We must practice the PATH and the Five Precepts. (Basic code of ethics)

Eightfold Path

1. Right View
The heart sutra clearly explained the micro dimension of form.
We must remain Neutral and not be “Attached” to any form.
Accept the form without any attachment (not to possess)

2. Right Intention
With the Right View, we will automatically have the Right Intention.
We do not seek to have or to own the form.
Here we are guided by the Five Precepts.

3. Right Speech
Consciously we will have the Right Speech as we abide by the Five Precepts.

4. Right Action
Consciously we will have the Right Action as we abide by the Five Precepts.

The first 4 paths are very important habits to be acquired. It should be naturally nurtured.
If we have the wrong view, we will generate wrong intention (possession), thereby wrong speech (lying etc.) and wrong action (attempting forceful possession)

5. Right Livelihood
What we do are bounded by the Five Precepts, our work must not be involved directly or indirectly associated with killing sentient beings etc.
In the present real world, it might be difficult not to be associated with the Five Precepts
Killing of sentient being relating to food supply, selling alcohol product, lying to promote a product etc.

6. Right Effort
We must put in effort to practice the PATH. The world is filled with distraction, it is not easy to maintain the PATH.
We must be diligent in our effort. Understanding the Heart Sutra will help provide addition support to the effort.

7. Right Mindfulness
To enhance the Right Effort, Right Mindfulness as a practice of meditation.
To increase our strength in Right View and to reduce attachment or craving.

8. Right Concentration
Right Concentration as a practice of mediation which is One pointed focused, it is a step higher of Right Mindfulness.
Lay man ultimate goal to attained. Honestly it will take patience/time to achieved.
