Rest & Relaxation in Hong Kong

HONG KONG

SIN – HKG
On 19 July 2024 Gobal cyber outage hits air travel due to software update by CrowdStrike.
A little worried as we will be flying to Hong Kong for our holidays on 21 July 2024.
Luckily on 21 July 2024 we were able to fly smoothly to Hong Kong as per schedule.

Took the A22 bus route to Kowloon 8deg Hotel, walk from the bus stop to hotel approximately 10 minutes.

Accommodation
Stayed in Kowloon 8deg Hotel from 21 July 2024 to 26 July 2024 (5 days)
Kowloon 8deg Hotel is a good choice, budget friendly and up to 4 stars standard hotel.
Hotel provides hourly free shuttle bus service to Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon West station.
Location is surrounded by local eateries, supermarkets and convenient stores.
Swimming pool is on the fifth floor of the hotel. Pool is clean and has lifeguard on duty.
Those who fancy or missed Thai cuisines will be delighted to know that
15 mins walk away is a “little Thailand” (South Wall Street).

Humidifier and Dehumidifier
Before this trip to Hong Kong, we visited Japan Hokkaido in February 2024.
In the hotel we have a humidifier which keep the air humid, spraying water mist constantly in the room
and hence the need to top up water in the humidifier.

In Hong Kong hotel the “Humidifier” was in water level alarmed, but the water container is full.
We were puzzled and discharge the water in the container to mid-level and the alarm was turn off.
Hours later, the alarm returned, and the container was full again. We then realized it was “making” water.

The humidity in Japan is dry in which uses a Humidifier and in Hong Kong is wet in which uses a Dehumidifier.
Honestly, I never did know a dehumidifier or used a dehumidifier before. It was something new to me.
We are learning something every day.

Weather
Weather was hot and humid, it was very uncomfortable to be outside.
Recommends visiting Hong Kong in Autumn or Winter seasons.
Typhoon Gaemi nearly hit Hong Kong on 26 July after hitting Taiwan badly on 25 July.

Considering the CrowdStrike event and Typhoon Gaemi, we were good for the 5 days R&R in Hong Kong.
